OUR SCHOOL

All Saints' Day school is a licensed kindergarten and preschool that operates Monday through Friday. As part of our Day School program, our Extended Care Service is designed to accommodate the working parent and offers care from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., 5 days a week. Children may be enrolled regardless of race, color, sex, or religious affiliation.

The programs for two, three, four and five year old children are designed to provide exposure and experience with all situations and materials children will come across in a school setting.

A child's unique personality and potential is developed within a small group setting with a curriculum stressing social functioning, pre-academic readiness, art, music and physical development. Individual and group instruction is coupled with constructive play activities.

All Saints' Day School provides a positive and rewarding experience for children within a Christian environment. It is administered by a highly trained and caring staff. By intention, the enrollment remains small to insure a quality education.

HISTORY

The preschool was started by Father Charles Supin, Martha Jane Whitaker and Margaret Wruble in September 1973.  Many donations from local businesses and individuals came to the school as it grew. The women of All Saints held a fund-raising luncheon and craft boutique which raised $1,000 for the school.  After several years, Mark Lange, the Chairman of the Day School Board and an administrator with the Clark County School District, helped obtain the license for a kindergarten from the Nevada State Department of Education.  Shortly after that a day care program was begun.

We started out with just twelve children.  Now we have an enrollment of 65 children with one toddler room, seven preschool classes and one  kindergarten class.  We went from a staff of two to our present staff of twelve.  September 2008 marks our 35th year making us one of the oldest preschools in Las Vegas.

MarJo (Margaret) Watts is the fifth Director of the school, following Dyan McCarthy, Peggy Nettenstrom, Gloria Durling and Martha Jane Whitaker.  MarJo Watts was a teacher and member of The Community of the Holy Spirit, New York, New York, for 20 years. As such, she helped to run two well-known Episcopal Independent Schools, St. Hilda's and St. Hugh's School, New York, New York and The Melrose School, Brewster, New York. In addition to her education career, MarJo was publisher's assistant at Morehouse Publishing and holds a masters degree in Business Administration. MarJo took up her work at All Saints' Day School in June 2008.

All Saints' Day School is part of All Saints' Episcopal Church.  Our Mission Statement begins with the following:  All Saints' Day School exists to provide a positive and rewarding experience for children within a Christian environment.

The Christian concepts of sharing, cooperating and helping others are all part of the preschool curriculum.  We have Chapel each week during the academic year on Monday at 11:15 a.m.

The children and their parents contribute to the Outreach Program by providing baskets at Easter, having a food drive at Thanksgiving, and holding varied programs like St. Jude's Trike-a-Thon.
